Live F&O Market Screener

The market screener is a single live table for the whole Indian F&O universe. It puts spot price, futures data, open interest, volume, PCR and implied volatility side by side for every instrument, so you can see what is moving and, more importantly, whether real money is behind the move. You set filters on the left and the table narrows to the handful of stocks worth a closer look.

The problem it solves

To read the market properly you normally need several things at once: which stocks are up, where futures open interest is building, how the options side is positioned, and which sectors are leading. Checking each of those on a different site is slow, and by the time you have joined the dots the setup has moved. The market screener keeps price, futures and options data in one row so you can cross-check them in a glance and act while the signal is fresh.

Key terms explained

Every column and filter on the screener maps to one of these terms. If you want the longer definition of any of them, the trading glossary covers them in more depth.

TermWhat it meansHow to read it
Spot LTP and changeLast traded price of the underlying stock or index, and its move from the previous close. The headline move. Always the starting point.
Futures LTP and changePrice and move of the current-month future.A future running well ahead of spot signals aggressive positioning in that direction.
Open Interest (OI)The number of futures or option contracts currently open and not yet closed.Rising OI means new positions; falling OI means positions being closed.
OI percentage changeChange in futures OI over the day.Read together with the price move to classify the trend.
Long buildupPrice up and OI up.Fresh buyers. Bullish, with conviction behind it.
Short buildupPrice down and OI up.Fresh sellers. Bearish, with conviction behind it.
Long unwindingPrice down and OI down.Existing longs booking out. A weakening move, not aggressive selling.
Short coveringPrice up and OI down.Shorts buying back. Often a sharp move, but it can fade once covering is done.
VolumeFutures contracts traded during the session.A surge in volume confirms that a price move has participation.
ATM IVImplied volatility of the at-the-money option, the market's expected movement priced into premiums.High IV means expensive options and a wider expected range. Low IV means the opposite.
PCR (Put-Call Ratio)Total put OI divided by total call OI.Above roughly 1.2 leans bullish, below roughly 0.7 leans bearish. Best read with price and OI.
PE OI and CE OIOpen interest on the put and call side, with their changes.Rising CE OI near a level suggests resistance being written; rising PE OI suggests support.
Day chartA compact intraday sparkline of spot price.A quick visual check that the numbers and the shape agree.

What the screener shows

Each row groups its data into three blocks so the table stays readable even though it carries a lot of numbers.

  • Spot. LTP and percentage change, plus the intraday sparkline and the stock's sector and index tags.
  • Futures. LTP and change, open interest and OI change, volume and volume change.
  • Options. ATM IV, PCR, PE OI and PE OI change, CE OI and CE OI change.

A separate Trend tag on each row states the OI build-up in words (long buildup, short buildup, long unwinding or short covering) so you do not have to work it out from the raw numbers.

Filters available

The filter panel on the left is where the screener does its work. You can apply any combination of these:

  • Stock. Search by name or symbol to jump to specific instruments.
  • Indices. Limit the table to constituents of NIFTY, BANK NIFTY, FIN NIFTY, MIDCPNIFTY or NIFTY Next 50.
  • Sectors. Limit to one or more sectors, for example Banking, IT, Auto or Pharma.
  • Trend. Show only long buildup, short buildup, long unwinding or short covering.
  • Gainers and losers. Filter by price, OI or volume, on the gainer or loser side.
  • IV range. Set a minimum and maximum implied volatility.
  • PCR range. Set a minimum and maximum Put-Call Ratio.
  • Future percentage change. Set a minimum and maximum move for the future.
  • OI percentage change. Set a minimum and maximum change in open interest.

Above the table, one-click presets apply the most common single filters instantly: Long Buildup, Short Covering, Short Buildup, Long Unwinding, Price Gainers, Price Losers and OI Gainers. Active filters show as removable chips so you always know what the current list represents.

A worked example

Say you want the strongest banking names with genuine buying behind them on a given morning.

  1. Set the Sectors filter to Banking.
  2. Apply the Long Buildup preset, so price and OI are both rising.
  3. Add a Future percentage change minimum of 1 percent.
  4. Sort the table by futures volume change.

The table might return four stocks. One of them, for example, shows spot up 1.8 percent, futures up 2.1 percent, futures OI up 6 percent, volume up 140 percent versus its recent average, and a PCR of 1.15. That combination, a clean price move, fresh long OI, a real volume surge and put writers holding the downside, is a much stronger starting point than a stock that is simply up on the day. You would then open its option chain to choose strikes and check the chart for a level to trade against.

tip

The compass icon in the page header starts a short guided tour of the screener. It is the fastest way to learn where each control lives.

How traders use it

  • Momentum leaders. Price Gainers preset, high volume change, futures change above a threshold. Finds trending stocks for intraday breakout trades.
  • Conviction filter. Any gainer list plus the Long Buildup trend. Removes the names that are only up on short covering and keeps the ones with fresh buying.
  • Early reversals. Filter for price up with OI down (short covering) or price down with OI down (long unwinding). These mark moves that are running out of fuel and suit fade or mean-reversion trades.
  • Sector rotation. Pick a sector, sort by price change, and compare across sectors to see where money is moving. Pair this with sector analysis for the wider view.
  • Sentiment extremes. Set a PCR range at the high or low end and scan for stocks where options positioning is stretched, which can precede a snapback.

Benefits

  • One row carries price, futures and options data, so signals can be cross-checked without switching screens.
  • Filters and presets cut the F&O list down to a working shortlist in seconds.
  • The trend tag turns raw OI numbers into a plain-language read.
  • Screener Insights gives instant market breadth for whatever you have filtered to.
  • Every hit links straight through to deeper analysis, so the screener is a starting point, not a dead end.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Market Screener in Stolo?
It is a live table of the entire Indian F&O universe that puts spot price, futures price, open interest, volume, options OI, PCR and ATM IV in one view. You apply filters on the left and the table narrows to the stocks that match. It is meant to replace jumping between several websites to check what is moving and where positions are building.
What data does each row show?
For every instrument you see an intraday sparkline, spot LTP and percentage change, futures LTP and change, futures OI and OI change, futures volume and volume change, ATM IV, PCR, and PE and CE open interest with their changes. A trend tag marks the OI build-up as long buildup, short buildup, long unwinding or short covering.
What do the OI build-up trends mean?
They combine the direction of price with the direction of open interest. Price up with OI up is long buildup, which is bullish. Price down with OI up is short buildup, which is bearish. Price up with OI down is short covering. Price down with OI down is long unwinding. Buildup means fresh conviction; unwinding and covering mean positions are being closed.
How do I find the strongest stocks of the day?
Use the Price Gainers preset or set a Future percentage change range with a positive minimum, then sort the table by futures change or volume. Add a long buildup filter if you want only the gainers that also have fresh OI behind the move rather than a short-covering bounce.
Can I filter by sector or index?
Yes. The Sectors filter limits the table to one or more sectors such as Banking, IT or Auto. The Indices filter limits it to the constituents of NIFTY, BANK NIFTY, FIN NIFTY, MIDCPNIFTY or NIFTY Next 50. You can combine a sector or index with any other filter.
What is a good PCR range to filter on?
There is no single right number, but as a rough guide a PCR above about 1.2 leans bullish because more puts are being written as support, and a PCR below about 0.7 leans bearish. Many traders filter for PCR between 0.9 and 1.1 to find balanced names, or look at the extremes for possible reversals. Always read PCR alongside price and OI, not on its own.
Does the Market Screener update live?
Yes. During market hours the table refreshes continuously so price, futures and options data stay current. You can also press the refresh control in the header to force an immediate update.
Can I see the screener for a past date?
The Market Screener is built around the live session. For historical study of a specific setup, the Opening Range Breakout screener has a full history mode, and Stolo's Market Replay tool lets you step through a past day candle by candle.
What are the Screener Insights below the table?
Screener Insights summarises whatever is currently in the table. It shows how many stocks are advancing versus declining, the total PE and CE open interest, a sector breakdown, and the top gainers and losers within your filtered set. It updates as you change filters, so it describes your slice of the market, not the whole market.
How do I open deeper analysis for a stock?
Click the stock symbol to open its instrument overview. Each row also has quick links to that stock's option chain and its TradingView chart, so you can go from a screener hit to strikes and price structure in one click.
Which plan includes the Market Screener?
The Market Screener is part of Stolo's paid analysis access and is available on the Trial plan, which starts at 299 rupees. Check the subscription plans page for the current tiers and limits.
