Market Analysis Tools for Indian F&O Traders

Price tells you where an instrument has been. Analysis tells you what the market is doing behind it: where open interest is building, what the put-call ratio is saying, how volatility is priced, and whether the broad market agrees. Stolo's analysis suite is built for the Indian F&O market, live or on any past session.

The three groups

GroupWhat it covers
Options AnalysisOption chain, open interest, PCR, max pain, IV, premium, straddle and volume views.
Futures AnalysisOI buildup, the future versus spot basis, implied volatility, PE-CE data.
Market PulseHeatmap, breadth, sector rotation, index constituents, FII and DII flows, historical bars, replay.

Alongside these, an instrument overview board and full TradingView charts for every instrument and strike.

Key terms explained

TermWhat it means
Open interest (OI)The number of option or futures contracts currently open.
Change in OIHow OI moved over a period. The main positioning signal.
PCRPut-call ratio: put OI divided by call OI.
Max painThe strike where option writers lose least, a magnet into expiry.
Implied volatility (IV)The expected move the option market is pricing in.
BasisThe gap between the futures price and the spot price.
BreadthHow widely a market move is shared across individual stocks.

A worked example

It is 9:40 and you want a bullish intraday trade.

  1. Market pulse: the heatmap is broadly green, Metal and Energy lead, FIIs bought yesterday. Bias: long.
  2. Screener: filter gainers with long buildup and PCR above 1. A metals name comes up.
  3. Instrument overview: trend up, futures at a widening premium, IV steady.
  4. Open interest: fresh call writing has moved up a strike; the old resistance is unwinding.
  5. Trending OI: confirms the call writing shift.

Five tools, under two minutes, and you have a name, a direction, a level and confirmation. You take it to the option chain to pick strikes.

How the tools fit together

  1. Market pulse first for direction, breadth and flows.
  2. Instrument overview to size up one name.
  3. Option chain and open interest for strike-level positioning.
  4. Straddle and IV views for the volatility picture.
  5. Trending OI and volume to time the entry.
  6. Execute through a terminal, the strategy builder or your broker.

Frequently asked questions

What analysis does Stolo offer?
Three groups of tools. Options analysis covers the option chain, open interest, PCR, max pain, IV, premium and straddle views. Futures analysis covers OI buildup, the future versus spot basis, IV and PE-CE data. Market pulse covers the heatmap, breadth, sector rotation, index constituents, institutional flows, historical bars and session replay.
Do I need charts or is it all data tables?
Both. Most tools are visual: colour-coded OI charts, a heatmap, sector distribution bars, straddle premium lines. There are also full TradingView charts for every instrument and strike, and tables where a table reads best, such as the straddle chain and PE-CE data.
Which instruments are covered?
The full Indian F&O universe on the NSE: the index instruments such as NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, FINNIFTY and MIDCPNIFTY, and every stock with listed futures and options. Cash-only stocks outside the F&O list are not covered because the tools rely on derivatives data.
Can I analyse a past trading day?
Yes. Most analysis pages have a date picker to load a past session as it stood, and Market Replay plays a whole day forward at 1x to 10x. Historical Bars gives you years of raw OHLC data for spot, futures and option strikes.
How do the analysis tools fit together in a workflow?
Start with the market pulse: breadth, sectors and flows to set your bias. Move to an instrument's overview, then its option chain and open interest for strike-level positioning, then the straddle and IV views for the volatility picture. Use trending OI and volume to time it, then execute through a terminal or your broker.
Do I need to know the Greeks to use Stolo's analysis?
Not for most of it. The core positioning tools, open interest, PCR and max pain, are read from contract counts and premiums. The Greeks are available as optional columns on the option chain when you are sizing a specific position. The glossary explains every term used.
Does Stolo's analysis update in real time?
Yes. The intraday tools stream through market hours, most with a time-interval control for one to sixty-minute change buckets and a manual refresh. FII and DII activity is a daily after-close read.
Can Stolo place trades from the analysis screens?
No. Stolo never auto-trades. The analysis tools help you form a view. You place the order yourself through the option chain, a trade terminal, the strategy builder or your connected broker.
Which plan includes the analysis tools?
The analysis suite is part of Stolo's paid access and can be tried on the Trial plan, which starts at 499 rupees. See the subscription plans page for the current tiers.
