Scalping Calculator

Scalping is all about quick entries, quick exits, and razor-sharp decision-making.

But even the fastest traders need to pause for a second to answer:

  • What's my breakeven if I enter at ₹42 and pay ₹2 in charges?
  • How much will I make if I capture ₹6 movements with 5 lots?
  • Should I even take this trade if the premium is too thin?

The Scalping Calculator in Stolo helps you answer all this instantly, so you don't just act fast, but also act smart. It's an insightful tool offered by Stolo meant for traders to strategize and plan profitable trades based on their available capital. Frequently asked questions

What is the scalping calculator?
It is a quick tool for options scalpers to work out targets, stop losses and the rupee value of a move before entering. You put in the entry premium, quantity and the points or percentage you are risking and targeting, and it returns the amounts and the risk-to-reward.
Why use a calculator for a scalp?
Scalps are small, fast and frequent, so getting the position size and the risk-to-reward right every time matters more than on a swing trade. Doing the arithmetic in your head under time pressure leads to mistakes; the calculator removes them.
What inputs does it take?
The instrument and lot size, your entry premium, the quantity in lots, and your intended stop and target expressed in points or percentage. It converts those into rupee amounts and the resulting risk-to-reward ratio.
Does it place trades?
No. It is a planning tool. Work out the numbers, then place the order through a trade terminal or the option chain.
What risk-to-reward should a scalper aim for?
Many scalpers accept a tighter risk-to-reward than swing traders, sometimes around 1 to 1, because their win rate is higher and holding time is short. The calculator lets you see the ratio before you commit so you can decide if the trade is worth taking.
Can I use it for stock options as well as index options?
Yes. Set the correct lot size for the instrument and the calculation adjusts.
How does it help with position sizing?
By showing the rupee risk for a given quantity and stop, you can size the position so the loss on a stop-out is within your per-trade limit, rather than guessing.
Is the scalping calculator free?
It is part of Stolo's tools. Check the subscription plans page for what each tier includes.
