Watchlist for F&O Stocks and Options

A watchlist in Stolo is a saved list of the instruments you follow: index and stock futures, F&O stocks, or specific option strikes. Each row shows the live price, the day's change and a sparkline, and clicking it opens the full analysis for that name. You can keep up to nine separate lists, so indices, your regular stocks, a sector you are tracking and the legs of an open position each get their own.

The problem it solves

You cannot analyse forty stocks at once, but you do need to know which of them is moving so you can look closer. A watchlist is the triage layer: a compact, live column of everything you care about, so the moment one name breaks out or breaks down you see it and click through. Without it you are either flipping through charts or missing the setup.

How to organise your watchlists

Nine lists is enough to separate by purpose rather than piling everything into one:

  • Indices. NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, FINNIFTY, MIDCPNIFTY, plus India VIX.
  • Core stocks. The ten to fifteen F&O names you actually trade.
  • Sector focus. A sector you expect to move, so you can trade the leader.
  • Position legs. The exact option strikes in a current strategy, to watch the trade.
  • Radar. Names on the edge of a setup you want to catch.

Key terms explained

TermWhat it means
WatchlistA named, saved list of instruments.
SymbolOne instrument on the list: a stock, index, future or option contract.
SparklineA small intraday price line showing the shape of the day.
Manage modeThe screen for adding, renaming, deleting and reordering watchlists.
ReorderDragging watchlists or symbols into the order you want.

What each row shows

  • Symbol name and instrument type.
  • Last traded price and the day's change in points and percent.
  • Sparkline of the intraday move, coloured green or red.
  • A click target that opens the instrument's full Overview and analysis.

A worked example

It is expiry day. You open your "Position legs" watchlist, which holds the four strikes of a BANKNIFTY iron condor you are short: the sold 48000 CE and 47000 PE, and the bought 48500 CE and 46500 PE.

BANKNIFTY has drifted up toward 47900. On the watchlist the 48000 CE sparkline is turning up and its premium has moved from 40 to 95, while the put side has decayed to near zero. That one screen tells you the call side is the risk now. You click the 48000 CE to open its chart and the option chain to decide whether to adjust, all without hunting for the contract.

tip

When you open an instrument anywhere in Stolo, you can add it straight to a watchlist. Build your lists as you research rather than in one sitting.

How traders use it

  • Morning scan. Run down the indices and core stocks lists at the open to set the day's focus.
  • Sector rotation follow-up. After the heatmap flags a sector, load its watchlist to pick the specific name.
  • Trade monitoring. A watchlist of your position's option legs is the quickest way to see which side is under pressure.
  • Setup radar. Keep near-trigger names on one list so you do not miss the break.

Frequently asked questions

What is a watchlist in Stolo?
A watchlist is a saved list of the instruments you want to keep an eye on: F&O stocks, indices, futures or specific option strikes. Stolo shows each one with its live price, change and a small sparkline, and one click takes you into that instrument's full analysis.
How many watchlists can I create?
You can create up to nine watchlists. Most traders use a handful: one for indices, one for the stocks they trade regularly, one for a sector they are tracking, and one for the option strikes in a current position.
Can I add option strikes to a watchlist, not just stocks?
Yes. The symbol search covers the full F&O universe including individual option contracts, so you can watch, for example, the NIFTY weekly 22000 CE and 21800 PE alongside the index itself. This is handy for tracking the legs of a strategy.
How do I add a symbol to a watchlist?
Open the watchlist, use the symbol search to find the instrument, and add it. You can also add the instrument you are currently viewing elsewhere in Stolo to a watchlist directly, which drops it into your most recent list.
Can I reorder watchlists and the symbols in them?
Yes. In Manage mode you can drag watchlists into the order you want, and within a watchlist you can drag symbols to reorder them so the ones you care about most sit at the top.
What is the sparkline next to each symbol?
The sparkline is a small intraday price line for that instrument, enough to see the shape of the day at a glance without opening a full chart. Green means up on the day, red means down.
Do watchlist prices update live?
Yes. During market hours the price, change and sparkline for every symbol on the visible watchlist stream in real time, so it works as a live monitor.
Can I trade directly from a watchlist?
The watchlist is for tracking and navigation. Clicking a symbol takes you to its analysis, and from the option chain or a trade terminal you can place the order. The watchlist itself does not carry a buy or sell button.
How is a watchlist different from a custom dashboard?
A watchlist is a lightweight price list, many symbols in a compact column. A custom dashboard is a full analysis grid with charts, OI and option chains. Use a watchlist to keep dozens of names in view and a dashboard for deep monitoring of a few.
Are my watchlists saved to my account?
Yes. Watchlists are stored against your Stolo account and sync across devices, so the list you build on desktop is there on mobile.
Do I need a paid plan to use watchlists?
You need a Stolo account and can try the full feature set on the Trial plan, which starts at 299 rupees. See the subscription plans page for the current tiers.
