FAQs - Market Analysis
Do I need to connect a broker to use Market Analysis?
No. All of Stolo's analysis charts, option chain, Open Interest, PCR, Max Pain, and the rest, are available for market analysis without connecting a broker. A broker connection is only required to place live trades.
How often does the analysis data update?
Live, tick-by-tick data is available once you connect a broker. Without a broker connection, analysis data updates at 1-minute intervals, which is enough for most end-of-day and swing analysis.
What's the difference between Open Interest and Volume?
Open Interest is the number of contracts still outstanding (not yet closed), while Volume is the number of contracts traded in a given period. Rising OI with rising price is read differently from rising Volume alone, see Open Interest for how Stolo visualizes this.
Where can I see Put-Call Ratio (PCR) history, not just the current value?
Use PCR OI Trend, which plots how PCR has moved through the session rather than showing a single snapshot.
What is Max Pain, and does the market always expire there?
Max Pain is the strike where option writers collectively lose the least at expiry. It's a useful reference point, not a guarantee, the Max Pain page explains how to read it alongside other data rather than in isolation.
Can I compare multiple strikes at once instead of one at a time?
Yes, see Multistrike OI Analysis and CE & PE Strike Charts for side-by-side views across strikes.
